The design looks VERY similar to the QX-5 (especially the mag selector ring) so I'de be inclined to say that it will provide similar quality images as the QX-5 but with higher mag.

I think for shots of larger larvae you will want something less than 100x mag though.

You are probably right Paul - The first shot of mine was taken at x40 and the second at x100. You cannot see the whole of the larva in the objective. It is pretty cool to see the blood coursing through their veins though!! I used a Nikon Exclipse E400.

I really want something decent, but cheap, for checking my algae cultures. Thought it would be cool if I could pull pictures off it.
