NASA Aquarius Project Surface Salinity Map

Postby » Fri Sep 23, 2011 2:40 pm

NASA has released the surface salinity map from the Aquarius satellite project, thought some may find this interesting: ... 14786.html

It's strictly surface, naturally affected by temperature to an extent, but it's an average of multiple passes so it should be a good representation.

Cool! Thanks!

With my interest in seahorses, I follow the water quality monitoring of the Indian River Lagoon estuary by the Smithsonian and others. Unlike the oceans which are relatively stable, you can see large swings in temperature, salinity, pH, etc. It is also interesting as this is the breeding grounds for many of the species found in the ocean.
