According to the January 2012 issue of Pet Age magazine (), fish food and aquarium supplies contributed 9% of the average dollar volume in pet stores for the 2010 sales year, up from 5% in 2009. Average customer transactions for fish supplies are up and 52% of vendors who carried fish in 2010 carried salt water fish, up from 39% in 2009.
Nano tanks and LED lighting were cited among the reasons that sales were up. Also mentioned was increased knowledge and support of the staff at the stores.
So, the economy still sucks, but it looks like it's inching back upwards. Let's keep it up.
