A good book with a GREAT bibliography. I found it at the local university library. Some good stuff on calanoid copepods, pointing to papers with instructions on rearing set-ups (I haven't tracked down those papers yet).

Tigriopus Californicus Harpacticoid species copepod

Copepod is a greek word translating to “Oar Foot”, these creatures technically do not have “feet” at all, instead they use little tail like appendages as oars for locomotion. It’s also interesting to note that they primarily use their mouth appendages for slower more melancholy movement. The combination of these two locomotive techniques allows the Tigriopus the ability to range in speed from amazingly slow to amazingly fast. It’s reported that they can move at speeds up to 1/2 mile an hour, which is an amazing feat considering the relative size of these creatures. To get relativity on the subject of movement and size, consider that a larger Tigriopus is typically around 900-1400 micro meters in length, this is about .9 to 1.4 millimeters. These guys are tiny!
