Home bases growout system needs permits/liscenses???

Postby Ding2daDong » Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:02 pm

I am in the process of setting up a little home based breeding setup for clownfish here in South Florida. I wanted to know who I should seek out for information pretaining to permits needed or liscenses to do this? Also is their certain rules or restrictions in doing so? Like does a person have to come and survey my breeding setup?

I am still in the "Hobby" stage of this but "IF" this ever got big enough to actually turn a profit I wouldn't want uncle sam coming to come and close everything down because I didn't have a permit/liscense or setup required for this type of thing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

I'd recommend not worrying about it now, and paying a lawyer once you get to that point.

I don't know about Florida, but Georgia was a business license and a Dept. of Agriculture inspection. Clean tanks and a tidy setup (at the time of inspection) was important. As long as you don't have scads of employees, the process is pretty straightforward.
