Celestron handheld digital Microscope

Celestron handheld digital Microscope

Postby fishguttz » Tue Nov 11, 2008 9:40 pm

I just bought the USB capable Celestron handheld digital Microscope. It s very easy to use but it only takes shots at 20x and 400x.

I took these pics at 20x and 400x of something growing in my uninhabited tank. anybody know what it is. It is clumped all over the bottom of the tank.

What kind of photographic resolution do you get with that thing?

The resolution is 0.3mp using a ¼” CMOS chip (640x480 pixels)

Not too great I guess. the images look better live. but it's handheld and easy to focus and I can submerge it about 3/4" into a solution. (not the microscope, just the plastic spacer on the front)

How does that compare with the one you have?

Here is DTs phytoplankton at 400x

I'd say it's probably pretty compareable to the QX5 then.

I'm not sure but It might be possible that the brown stuff above is bacterial floc, I don't know if that is good or bad, but it is easy to siphon out of the tank.
