Purchasing a new Microscope

Purchasing a new Microscope

Postby rortreefer » Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:39 am

I am in the market for a microscope and found a few on Amazon that seem enticing. I am looking at the Omax and Celestrons that are on amazon for about $200-350. Has anyone had any experience with these or can recommend one to me? I, like many others, would like to have the option of a camera and these models seem to come with or have adapters for them. Any other experience with them?

Side note, I am also looking for a balance scale. Ohaus on amazon seems to have some decent ones, any experience with these?

Thanks for the help!

I got this one, because it works with Mac. Its ok but I wish I had gotten one with dual eyepieces.

We went with this one, and love it:

Almost half the price is the camera for it. You can buy just the microscope too, and add the camera after if the price isn't acceptable.

The local "head" shops usually have them. :)

I have a digital scale but a balance scale would probably be more accurate than mine. Mine does to .1 grams, but a similar one for .o1 gram accuracy is close to $100. I got mine for $25.

Head shops? I havent seen one of those for years! I'll bet Florida and Hawaii have fun ones.

Do you guys weigh your fish food? Our aquarium does that.

Thanks for the link scott. I emailed them and hopefully they can help me find the scope and Mac compatible camera that will work best!
