is anyone using a DiY calcium,alk,mag protocol?

i have come to the conclusion that i cant afford my aquaria!!!!!
running over 3000 gallons im finding it hard to afford supplements even from bulk reef .
sooo i have re looked up the ole randy holmes- farley diy recipe involving dowflake , baKED BAKING SODA and epsom salts .
is anyone using this currently ? just looking for some input .
i have already scoured google and am looking for personal experience or opinion on research based findings .
i love you guys n gals and hope you can help me with this issue :lol:

Numerous people in my local reef club swear by RFH's recipe. It saves them tons of $.

I dont use any special recipies but yes i have started to use components to maintain reef tanks.

I think its a see how you go situation.
