has anybody breed p. porphyreus

hi
i get a lot of larvae from a P pophyreus pair ( i think thats the spoecies because thay are very cheap)
i gte lamost 500 larvae and put some in brt and some i a pair of 10 gallon tanks they have rotifers at 10 ml i use nano and enrich with selcon here in mexico is hard to get isosicys any ideas?

Yes,they have been bred according to Witts book.The very difficult part is to put the pair together,because they are extremely aggresive.

well i have a pair in a 1000 gallon tank with alot of other fishes i notice a strange behavior from the male and suposed he has eggs in a cave yesterday at nigth i saw a lot of fry so i colected them this is not mi first atemp to raise the fry but i lost them at day 14 until 17

sorry i am using rotifers too
i colected them with a flaslight and 2 and a half hours in the night

by day 14 they should be off rotifers and onto nhbs maybe even dayold just a little

whatcha feeding by then

well the first batch died just in 3 days but on march 1 i get another batch i colected them and are in a brt of aprox 4 galons of water ( green water ) with nanocloropsis, i feed them rotifers enriched with selco, and they seem fine ( almost 100 ),

i got a pair of p. fridmanis and they are very diferent so i am sure i am breeding porphyreus (or tryng to do it)

well we have now 13 days old larvae eating ok, but i notice that they are near the bottom i will begin feeding with artemia at day 14

the male gets in the tube and there tyhey lay the egss so i have never loked at the eggs i only find larvae at nigth in the tank here a video of the larva newly hatched

and here one of the babies that is 12 days old

You must know that Pictichromis dotties like yours,were only in very few ocassions bred.I guess that due to 2 reasons:they are very hard to pair off,because of their extreme agressiveness and because they are common in shipments and cheap.

well we are now in the 14 days old mark for the larger ones i have 2 more batches ( they born every 6 days), from the first one i have more or less 10 left thay begin getting NHBS today with rotifers grrenwater and selco also giving them some othohime lest look what hapens

well i dont see any survivor 22 days well thats a good survivance record now i have alot more babies i will try to enrich the rotifers a litle bit more
