Stichodactyla Haddoni

Stichodactyla Haddoni

Had a spawn yesterday, a day after transporting them up from Phx. Water was cloudy during spawn so hopefully male fertilized.
Broadcast spawner with eggs staying suspended in water column for some time.
Eggs smaller than pin head, larger than Pin shaft.
Passed through 800 micron net, captured in 100.
Seived with small green plankton sieve set. Most were held at one screen above baby brine, so they are flexible enough to pass through small hole size.

I put eggs in every tank and my 80 F plankton tank. Unfortunately I was to busy keeping the occasion from becoming a mess, I didn't have time to setup the camera. That is a lot of biomass to cut lose in a tank. Next oppertnity will be quarter moon in Feb 2011 unless the third one spawns soon, assuming they are single sex. I will have to buld a contraption to hold drifting eggs for observation.

March 9 I returned to inspect my warm plankton tank. Small toadstool looking anemone's can be seen attached to the glass. Tried to take a picture put they are to small. Stalk/tenticle has bulb at end. Looks just like toadstool soft coral.
