Tips on raising Lysmata amboinensis?

Tips on raising Lysmata amboinensis?

Postby altolamprologus » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:52 pm

Hey guys, I got a good hatch from my cleaner shrimp a couple days ago so I decided to try to raise them and see how far I can get. In previous experiments, I got them to days 5/6 on greenwater alone and this batch is on day 3 with greenwater and Tisbe biminiensis copepods (I know, not the best, but I only have tisbe and Tigiropus californicus). My brine shrimp eggs are in the mail and should be here tomorrow. So my question is, does anyone have any tips on raising them?

Very few people could raise some,so tips will be very hypothetical.
But there is a lot to read in the forums!

I've been reading and reading and reading but it still feels like there's not enough info. I remember a couple people on here saying they got one or two to settle, but never found any info on what made that attempt different from previous failed ones.

Time, Patience (a LOT of), clean water & Enrich your food! *waits for Andy ;)*

Have you tried raising Peppermint shrimp? if not you should start there.

I once raised a single cleaner shrimp larvae to 136 dph(yes one hundred and thirty six days) before it succumbed :( thats a LOT of effort for a LONG time!

Hone your skills and technique on peppermint shrimp first due to their 'short' larval stage.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
