What to do?blue legged hermit about to spawn(I think)

Hi, newbie here, found your web site when looking for information on hermit crabs... I think I found a lot more than I asked for!!

4 months ago I setup my first saltwater tank (14 gallons US), and after cycling the tank, added some snails, and crabs, and among those I added there were 5 Blue Legged hermit crabs, Clibanarius species, I think, and after the first week, only 3 survived, and are doing very well since.

Any how, to make the story short, 3 days ago, I noticed two of the Blu legged hermits engaged in a wrestling match of some sort, and immediately thought that they were fighting for the shell, so I put my knee to the ground, and started to watch closer with the intentions of intervening before some act of murder could be committed. After some time it became evident, that the larger one was not attacking the slightly smaller one, but kind of gently poking and tapping the the other crab, while at the same time rocking it back and forth in odd kind of way... So after a few more minutes of watching, got bored, and left, thinking to my self that I had just witnessed and act Hermit crab porn.

Today, while watching my tank in awe as I usually do these days, I noticed the smaller blue legged hermit (the one that was involved wrestling 3 days ago), manipulating the shell of one of the blue hermits that had died, so I keep watching with interest, and after a few minutes, it switched to the new shell momentarily, and that is when I observed a greenish sack of something attached to the end of the creature, and realized that most probably I was going to be a a hundred times removed uncle of some sort very soon, what to do... what to do?.

Could some guidance be provided as to how to proceed, if I intend to (try) to raise these larvae into adult hood, please?

The tank I am using is 14 gallons capacity (around 52 Liters), it measures 15 inch wide x 15.5 inches deep x 17 inches high (38.1 cm wide x 39.37 cm deep x 43.18 cm high). The tank is one of those "all-in-one" that has part of the back of the tank used as a sump and filtration system. There are no fish in the tank, contains 1.5 inches of sand, 20 pounds (around 9 Kg) of Fiji live rock, only one small SPS coral 3 x 2.5 inches, 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 Electric Blue hermit, 4 Margarita snails, 4 banded Trochus snails, and 3 Turbo snails.

Note: in case any of you decides to help me, above all things, please do not point me to the images of a chopped up, yellow plastic pan, attached to the interior glass of a tank by a big smear of silicon glue

Thanks,
Ignacio

I don´t follow what you mean :?
1st step is checking if larvae are produced. To do this, check your tank every night 1hr after the lights went off, with a flashlight.Larvae will be seen crowding against the upper front glass.
2nd step is recovering them, siphoning them out.
Good luck! :D
