Breeding of six line Wrasse?

Breeding of six line Wrasse?

Postby radtke1234 » Sat Sep 20, 2014 10:31 am

I have had a six line wrasse in my nano tank for the past five months. She is the only fish in my tank. Never had another one with her. When I came home this morning there were baby fish swimming around in my tank. Because she is the only fish in my tank I assume they came from her. I have read that six line wrasse can change their sex from female to male. I was wondering can that be done without another sixline wrasse in the tank? And can they change there sex if they decide to have babies? I just don't know were else the baby fish would have come from? If any one has info pnease throw it out there. Thanks!

Welcome to MOFIB! :D
Wrasses are pelagic spawners. Both sexes gather at the surface where they release their gametes.Raising the larvae of pelagic spawners is very difficult and has not been acomplished with the six line wrasse,AFAIK.
I suspect you have mysis in your tank :?
