Aquacultured Hawaiian Humbugs ( Dascyllus albisella) in HI

Postby mpedersen » Mon Jan 12, 2009 1:26 pm

This was news to me; apparently someone is producing "aquacultured" Hawaiian Humbugs, Dascyllus albisella:

They do refer to this as "Captive Bred" as well, and are currently asking $7.99 a shot...

This fish is aquacultured (captive bred) in Hawaii.

That has to be Syd Kraul, Pacific Planktonics. They sure are cheap.

There was a raising report in HI years ago.But the lack of mentioning the cuasi pro larval stage of hatchlings made me take it with some oz of salt

I asked around a little about this since it's in my neighborhood and I believe these fish are being caught as post larvae in light traps then grown out in captivity and sold.
