Stimulate spawning

Stimulate spawning

Postby Amie » Mon Feb 23, 2015 3:13 am

I thought this was worth noting...I have a pair of clownfish in my main reef tank that I have had for 10 or more years. They haven't spawned for at least 5 years. I haven't paid much attention to them since they haven't spawned for so long, but last night the female laid a bunch of eggs on a rock in the tank. The only thing that has changed in that tank is that I added 5 peppermint shimp to the refugium about a month ago and two of the shrimp are mature enough to carry eggs. it makes sense that the fish have started spawning, since the shrimp are releasing larvae about every 10 days.
