Thanks, y'all! That's funny. I didn't even notice the cleaners last time I looked at it. That was more just regular interaction or maybe really, really early in their dance. I can tell that they were starting to think about spawning--the male did a display to his reflection really early in the video and the female's abdomen is a little distended. But, heck, I have a bunch of videos on there of the cleaners spawning. Here's one from June:

Thanks!

No, I haven't figured out where or if they are putting down nests. She looked pretty ripe, though. But I haven't really see them defending any particular holes, or, for that matter, running off to holes together. But I'm keeping an eye on them.

And it looks like the female blenny is finally geting just about ready. I've _never_ seen her this big, so maybe they've not yet ever spawned.

Amy ... it's okay to love your pets. Just so long as you don't Llllllooooovvvveee your pets.... ;) (Paraphrased from a silly Janeane Garofalo film.)

Thanks, y'all. I've got to figure out where they stashed them or if they even mated. The male does not seem to be guarding a particular place. Then I have to figure out the schedule. And I'm _still_ having snagger issues. More to do....

 Oh Andy you know I'm playing. I'm trying to keep things a little more playful here at the big ol MOFIB  I think it helps with all our big brains and plans to have some fun. But if I were a male blenny she would be the one  It is my playful way of saying she is ready to go !!!! Good luck. And remember I told you I have yet to have any blennies that get along so maybe I'm a little over excited

So, I have a show for you all tonight. There are lots of pictures, so I'll only direct-link a few. If you are interested in the rest I will give you links.

The starry blennies decided to spawn right out in the middle of everything, right on top of a magnet. It wasn't a huge surprise that they spawned as the female was huge, just kind of crazy that it was out in plain view.

The eggs are pretty much gorgeous. This is from the back so you can see the attachment fibers:

Unfortunately, lots of animals like eating eggs:

Nice work Andy! Very nice pics. I hope that all the eggs don't get eaten. I would love to see some progression shots.

Thanks, y'all! I'm not sure it's going to happen with this batch. By the time I went to bed, most of the eggs on the glass were gone.

Does the male have to tend to the eggs? If not perhaps you could construct some kind of mesh shield to protect the eggs.

(Thanks Kathy!) I would assume with a demersal spawner that it's likely the male should tend them. But they don't waste their time unless the spawn is viable. That's why I think he didn't step up. If one of them doesn't tend the eggs then it's pretty likely that they'll foul and be eaten by something.

More eggs from today, probably unfertilized. I'm starting to think that I have two females, dang it.
