What is the ideal temperature for Rotifers L-Type?

What is the ideal temperature for Rotifers L-Type?

I just keep them in 5g buckets, no heaters, at room temperature in my basement, which is about 68-70 degrees and they are doing ok but not as dense as I like. I read that they do better between 75-79 degrees. What temp do you keep your rotifers?

Your room temp is fine, but they will grow faster at 30C-86F.

Can they really tolerate 86? What temp will give me the best density?

Sure they can.Temp will give you growing speed, food will give density.

I added a heater to one of my buckets o' rots in my chilly basement. I raised the temp up a few degrees a day, and they all died! The first time ever in years I crashed a bucket!

I ended up putting the other buckets on overturned buckets to get them off the cold cement. That was enough to increase the growth rate a little.

C'mon, spring! My husband won't let me turn the heat up! Our power bill is outrageous!

I've never boosted the temp in my rots but I boosted the temperatures in my brine shrimp cultures (four 25g rubbermaid pails) and found that while they grew a heck of a lot faster, my overall yields of the brine show a heck of a large decline.
I'm assuming the higher temperatures meant bacteria problems became more significant, lowering the yields.
Now I just do everything at room temperature which is 68°F in winter and 72 to 74°F in summer with the A/C on.
For the rotifers I've never needed them to grow faster as they do extremely well by feeding them a blended mix of spirulina powder and Algamac 3050 powdere, blended for two minutes in water. I add to the culture sparingly 3 times a day when I am using them and once a day when I don't need the rots but just maintain them.

I just added a small 50w heater to one of my 5g rotifer buckets and have it set to 77 degrees. I took a few sample densities before and will do again over the next few days to see what, if anything changes. Thanks again for all of the input.

they definitely grow faster with the higher temps. but ive never had a need for more than im producing now. i keep 2 5 gallon buckets going every once in a while 1 will crash and i just start another from the other bucket.
