Copepod ID

Postby lewise » Wed Jun 08, 2016 7:54 am

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could ID these copepods? I have huge populations of them in my tanks at the moment, which is not a bad thing - extra food for my fish! I just wish I knew what they were.
As far as I can tell they are benthic, I see juveniles and adults always clinging to the glass and tank bottom but rarely see any swimming in the open. They are white/clear when viewed against the glass. At first I thought they were tiggers but then I ordered in some of these and they were much bigger and orange in comparison to these mystery pods.
Unfortunately I don't have a scale of their size as I have lost my scale bar for the microscope. The images were taken at 10x magnification if that's of any use?
Cheers :)
