Pod collection

Pod collection

Postby VBMikr » Thu May 15, 2014 8:08 am

I found the calanoid/harpacticoid stickies very interesting!

I know you guys are mainly fish breeders, but I'm interested in pods for reef tanks. Should I be concerned about collecting wild pods (copepods or amphipods) and using them in a tank with coral? Should I be worried about predatory pods?

I live in Virginia, near the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean if that matters. :)

Thanks

Well, pods for a reef tank should be mostly related to harps, plus amphip.,isopods and such.Thet will come in some wild algae covered rocks.Or in purchased live rock.

Ah okay. So you don't see much value to calanoid types in the context of a reef tank? Do you have any thoughts on predatory pods or how to weed them out? Thanks!
