Clarki clowns stopped laying and acting strange !

Postby mandarin » Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:18 pm

Hi , I have a pair of Clarki clowns which I bought as a breeding pair and they have laid eggs 5 times since I had them at intervals of approx 10 days.however for the last month there have been no eggs and the male appears to being harassed by the female. By this I mean she does not let him get much food and keeps him behind the tile where they originally laid there eggs. If he attempts to come out into the open she chases him back behind the tile. Both fish appear healthy but the male does seem to sulk behind the tile. All tankparameters are good and nothing has changed inside or outside the tank. I feed them 3 times a day with lots of frozen foods including brine with garlic , mysis , clam , flake e.t.c.
Has any one any ideas what's wrong and will they breed again ? Are they just taking a break ?
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks.

It happens sometimes. You should wait and see if they leave their problem behind
But provide some extra shelter and perhaps some little dither fish.
