Hungry, appetite or willingness to eat

Hungry, appetite or willingness to eat

Postby Mauricio Foz » Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:55 pm

Ola,

Grato
Mauricio

Hi,
I have observed that my fishes have less appetite (or willingness to eat) than I would like or expected them to have.
I use dry food (granules) from Tetra and Sera, frozen and grated fish, shrimp and squid . I am also trying fish roe.

Do you have any tips to increase your fishes appetite ?
Thanks,
Maurício.

Mauricio,
I have the same problem. I added garlic to my frozen foods (from the grocery store). It seems to help a little. I'm thinking live foods are the solution though. Right now I'm working on culturing mysid shrimp and brine shrimp, although, I hear live blood worms are good too. It is my thought that the fish won't be able to resist the live foods. Gut-loading is planned.

Avatar, your clowns/other broodstock eat newly Hatched Baby Brine Shrimp? I never tried, assuming they were too small. That isn't the case though eh?

I need to fix my avatar LOL
Yes, they do like them. Even with dry food they prefer the smaller New Life Spectrum food than the larger one.

25º to 27ºC - (77 º to 80.6ºf)

Mas alguma coisa me fez pensar.

But something makes me think about.
I moved, one of my young couples, to a very small tank ( 23L / 6 g).
Things have changed for them, from an basic tank with nothing but a plastic pot, to a small tank with live rock, corals, and water movement.
Those fish seem with much more appetite or interest in food. They have been feeding very well.
Can this be the answer ? Water movement ?
