Feeding Selco to rotifers

Feeding Selco to rotifers

Postby Scma » Sun Jan 03, 2010 11:17 pm

I've never had much luck with adding selco directly, and I've read about feeding the selco to rotifers. On Brineshrimpdirect, it says "SELCO is not intended as a feed for rotifers, artemia, or other zooplankton, but rather a short-lived immersion treatment that via ingestion and surface-coating of zooplankton vastly improves the lipid content and nutritional value of the zooplankton."

So my question is, can you actually feed this stuff to rotifers and if so, what is your suggested method of doing so?

Thanks,
Steph

no, its like an oil that sticks to them, so you pull what your going to feed to your fish, concentrate that, feed it, add selco, then after 30 minutes or so, feed that to your fish

Maybe you´re mistaking with "Culture Selco"

What about American Marine Inc. brand "Selcon" concentrate? From the bottle: "Feed 1.0 mil (sic) Selcon to a portion of live brine shrimp (aerate heavily) to greatly enhance their nutritional quality. Wait 12 hours before releasing into aquarium."

How does this product relate to the various "Selco" products? Can "Selcon" be used for enriching rotifers?

Selcon is what I meant
I always get the two mixed up. Any differences in instruction?

Would I still strain and rinse as usual or would that remove it?

no you rinse first, feed your enrichment food, wait 30, add selcon, wait 30, then feed....

first 30 can be skipped .... depends on your needs
